ORTHOsoft® Partial Hip Resurfacing Navigation SystemImproved navigation for a new and growing type of surgery |

Partial hip resurfacing offers potential advantages to selected patients-especially young, active, highly-demanding patients. Among the proposed benefits of resurfacing are the following: bone retention for future revisions, less stress shielding and fewer dislocations than conventional hip arthroplasties. When performing a partial hip resurfacing procedure, it is clinically important to achieve a high degree of accuracy. Recent findings show that surgeons had to perform three times more resurfacing surgeries than they expected in order to place the femoral hip resurfacing components within ±5 degrees of the desired neck/head angle using the conventional method. |

A study from the UK showed that by using navigation~ surgeons were able to reach a high degree of accuracy even in their first attempt and on difficult anatomy.(1)
Other studies confirm that computer navigation is more accurate and more consistent in its placement of the femoral component than standard instrumentation.(2)
The NEW ORTHOsoft Partial Hip Resurfacing Navigation System brings a wide scope of added benefits for surgeons, patients, hospitals and the healthcare system.
For the surgeon:
- Helps reduce significantly surgeons learning curve in partial hip resurfacing as well as surgical time
- Avoids the risk of femoral notching through improved valgus positioning
- A newly published study shows that the mean error to insert a guidewire using conventional surgery is three times less with navigation.(3)
- Enables to intuitively step forward throughout the procedure via automatic sequencing features
- Navigation reduces surgical time as well as hospital length of stay. (4)
For the patient:
- Since it provides the surgeon the ability to more precisely place the implant, it reduces the incidence of dislocation thereby contributing to improve patient’s overall quality of life after the surgery.
For the hospital & healthcare provider:
- Faster patient recovery and improved patient outcomes are known to contribute to reduce overall healxhcare costs and increase hospital profitability.
